Our 12-month buyback commitment

Reception

Our 12-month buyback commitment gives residents and their families greater confidence when it’s time to leave.

At Oceania, we understand that moving out of your villa, apartment or care suite is a significant step. There can be plenty to think about, including when your funds will be returned.

That’s why we’ve introduced greater certainty into the process.

You will receive your refund when your home is resold (relicensed to a new resident) or, if this has not happened sooner, no later than 12 months following termination of your occupation right agreement (ORA).

What this means for you

A 12-month maximum timeframe

If your home is resold, your refund will be paid following settlement. If it hasn’t been paid earlier, Oceania will pay it no later than 12 months after your ORA ends.

Greater certainty about what happens next

Leaving a village is a big decision, and having clarity about the financial process can make a difference.

Your refund will be paid following the resale of your home, and in any event will be paid no later than 12 months following termination of your ORA.

It’s part of our commitment to making the retirement living experience more straightforward, from move-in through to moving on.

Oceania’s 12-month refund commitment is not yet included in the registered ORA for your village or care centre, but the commitment applies now. We are in the process of updating our registered ORAs to include it. Please refer to the applicable ORA for full details about termination and payment of your refund.
